Character sheets or whatever for other people’s games
Vast and Starlit is about escaped prisoners on a spaceship, kinda like Firefly or Farscape, but more like Blake’s 7 or Dark Matter. Relationships, tech, and a varied universe to play in. It’s an amazing complete game packed into a tiny little space. So, contrary to its whole ethos, here’s some standard A4 easy-to-print character sheets for it.
3:16 Carnage Amongst the Stars is about space marines killing all the aliens ever. Or maybe a subversion of that. It’s fantastic fun either way though, partly a social commentary on xenophobia and military culture and partly a light-but-tactical blast ’em up. Recording a kill count is a thing. Here’s some sheets for it.
Contenders is just a beautiful game. Imagine Rocky, with a down-on-their-luck schmuck using boxing to drag themselves and a loved one out of the gutter. What sacrifices are they gonna make? Is the title worth the pain? And the best of all: Everyone at the table is trying to make it, and not everyone can. Here’s some character sheets for it, designed to be double-sided. It’s old work, so not my finest, but hey-ho.
My Life with Master is about minions who are going to overthrow their evil master. It’s the original pre-plotted game. The outcome for each character is going to be different, but you always get the rising tension as the Master forces you to do evil things until the final cathartic revenge. Simple, powerful stuff. And fun! Here’s a character sheet.
Dirty Filthy Hacks of other people’s games
These games are modifications of other games in order to send them into another direction. No challenge to the original game is intended. If there are any issues then please send us an email.
The Lady Blackbird is on the run from an arranged marriage to Count Carlowe. She hired a smuggling vessel, The Owl, to take her from London to the far reaches of the Caribbean so she could be with her once secret lover, the pirate king Uriah Flint.
However — Just before reaching Bermuda, The Owl was pursued and captured by the Royal Navy frigate, The Vengeance, under charges of flying a false flag.
Even now, the Lady Blackbird, her bodyguard, and the crew of The Owl are detained in the brig, while the commander of the frigate, Captain Hollas, checks the registry. It’s only a matter of time before they discover the outstanding warrants and learn that The Owl is owned by none other than the infamous ex-privateer Cyrus Vance.
None of the basic rules have been changed, only the setting. This is a swashbuckling pirate adventure about love and freedom across the seas! See the original actual play report here and links to other cool Lady Blackbird hacks here!
In the Old West of Pre-statehood America, towns are small and struggling. It only takes one fool with a head full of pride and their sins become a wound on the town’s purity, wounds which are soon infected with demons. The crops go bad, the heat turns everyone’s temper to fury, and soon the brothers and sisters of the Faith are turned against each other. Knowingly or not, people stray from the path into blasphemy, and then possession and sorcery soon follow.
But hope is not lost. God’s Watchdogs are called by the King of Life Himself, to speak with His authority. Your words are His Law. Your actions are His will. Your bullets are His judgement. And you will save the town.
The setting is identical (but not presented in full here) and the set-up is much the same, however the conflict rules have been changed completely to make conflicts faster and easier while still retaining the impact these conflicts have on the story. This is following a couple of games with players who strongly favour rules-lite systems and don’t really care for the admittedly excellent tactical element of the original conflict rules.
…I can only ask that all citizens cooperate as the police and armed services quarantine affected areas. I repeat, we are now in a state of extreme emergency, but do not lose hope or give into the violent impulses of our Infected fellow citizens. When we stand together and do what is right, when we do what is necessary, we will prove ourselves stronger than this affliction as a nation and as a species. I repeat, it is my expectation that the cure will be ready for wide-scale deployment in the coming days. I urge all…
Last night, all normal radio transmission ceased. There is no rescue coming.
There are quite a few changes and additions to the rules, but the core mechanics are the same. This is a GM vs Players game (or Infected vs. Survivors game) with lots of shooting and some melodrama thrown in. See an early actual play report here!
